Physical Education

By choosing to study A Level PE at HC6, you will gain the experience of looking into both the science and history of physical activity in depth over the two-year course.

The course is ideal for those students who have both a passion for theoretical knowledge around sport and physical activity. You must also be able to perform or coach to a high standard within your chosen sport. 

The subject will expand upon numerous skills both practical and academic. Moreover, the broad spectrum of topics that are covered within the course ensure that it provides a perfect entry into many different careers or university courses.

Qualification: A-level

Exam Board: OCR

Exam make-up: Individual exam (70%) / Coursework (30%)

Unit Titles: Applied Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics Sport, Psychology, Skill Acquisition, Sport and Society, Contemporary Issues in Sport, Performance or Coaching, Evaluation and Analysis of Performance. 

Key skills required: Playing sport outside of school to a good standard, interest in all aspects of sport, up-to-date with contemporary issues in sport and an interest in anatomy and psychology in sport. 

Entry Requirements: Grade 5/5 in Combined Science or Grade 5 in Biology or PE.
