Haverhill Community Sixth Form

Physics

In Physics we try to answer the most basic question…Why?

We strive to understand the basic building blocks and principles of the universe. By studying Physics, A Level at HC6, you will expand your understanding of the world from a 19th-century viewpoint into the 20th century, with quantum and particle physics.

You will develop important transferrable skills through experimentation, improving your communication and scientific writing skills, and becoming adept at teamwork. You will receive a practical Endorsement that shows your mastery of the practical skills that you have developed.

The mathematical skills that you will develop are widely applicable to all scientific disciplines there are huge synergies with A-Level Maths making it a superb complimentary subject.

Due to its ability to engender a scientific viewpoint, Physics is a facilitating subject that is excellent preparation for a wide range of degree courses at Russel Group universities. Physics can also provide access to a wide variety of further STEM study, including all forms of engineering.

Physics

“Studying A-level Physics at HC6 was an excellent choice. There is a large variety in the topics covered and you can explore the subject in more detail than at GCSE.

Furthermore, the trip to Cern was informative and fun. I would highly recommend studying Physics, or any science A-level, at HC6.”
