At HC6, we pride ourselves on the excellent pastoral provision we have in place.
This includes a well-structured and meaningful Tutor Time experience. Our tutor team are superb and have a wealth of knowledge and expertise, providing unrivalled support for our students.
Each year group has a tutor time curriculum plan for the year and it is within this that students access our Futures Programme. This is designed and overseen by Mr Hogg to support you to ensure that you are confident, strive to be ambitious, take on every opportunity that comes your way and that you are prepared for life post sixth form.
The Futures Programme engages our students with resources designed around financial education healthy relationships, mental health and wellbeing and independent research and study skills. At times you will benefit from external visitors with expertise in specific areas to further enhance your personal development whilst at HC6. Furthermore, the Futures Programme aims to best prepare students for university applications, apprenticeships, and the world of work once you have completed your studies here with us.
Towards the end of year 12 students will receive multiple UCAS and Apprenticeships sessions dedicated to supporting our students to plan their next steps. Sessions range from ‘how to write a personal statement’ to ‘how to find and apply for an apprenticeship’. Tutors’ support during this time is essential; we use a digital platform called OSCAR to provide extensive feedback on personal statements as well as having further mentor support for our Oxbridge, medicine, and veterinary medicine candidates.
With this level of academic and pastoral support, which has been carefully tailored to our students needs and delivered by expert tutors with first class knowledge and expertise, we are confident that our students will succeed as happy, hardworking and dedicated individuals – who will not only thrive at HC6, but excel as individuals as they enter the world of work or university as valued members of their community.
