Haverhill Community Sixth Form

Biology

Through the study of Biology at A-level, you will actively develop your communication and collaboration skills, working independently and in teams to critically analyse the world around you.

Your lessons will guide you to develop a thorough understanding of both biochemistry and cell biology. Furthermore, you will study the complex relationships living organisms have with each other and their environment. The completion of this A-level will see that you are able to make links between genetics and evolution too.

Throughout the course you will need to design and carry out valid practical investigations to answer scientific questions resulting in informed and analytical evaluations of the process. Within the practical element of the course, you will follow formal scientific procedures to prepare you for continuing to study this subject at university.

The science labs at HC6 are equipped to enable you to carry out such experiments and the teachers are always on hand to offer support and guidance to ensure that you are as inspired by the subject as they are.
