Economics

Economics helps you think strategically and make decisions to optimise the outcome. It will provide an insight into the social sciences as you are learning about behavioural techniques such as choice architecture and framing.

Studying economics will develop your understanding of financial decisions and why governments and companies use production trade-offs, incentives, and cost analysis.

You will be exploring the world of marketing and production and why analysis is pivotal to success. As you progress through the course you will develop an understanding of technical terms such as GDP, Index, Utility and PPC curves.

Exam make-up: Individual exam (100%) / Coursework (0%)

Unit Titles: Paper 1 – Markets and market failure. Paper 2 – National and international economy. Paper 3 – Economic principles and issues. 

Key skills required: Statistical analysis, data collection and analysis, research skills and logic skills. 

Entry Requirements: Grade 5 in Maths at GCSE.
