English Literature at HC6 is taught by passionate subject specialists who have chosen a wide and varied range of texts that you will critically analyse during the two year course.

All of the texts are designed to engage, excite, inspire and challenge our students, preparing them for the prospects of further education at University.

English Literature is a subject that permeates through so many others, developing skills that will empower you to become a confident and articulate individual. It provides you with a wealth of knowledge about the world around us and allows us to experience other perspectives, periods in time and a multitude of life experience.

English Literature is a subject respected by all university admissions departments. It evidences that person has an ability to manage a demanding workload, question and analyse information beyond simply what’s presented and critically explore the world around them. This could be you.

Qualification: A-level

Exam Board: EDUQAS

Exam make-up: Individual exam (80%) / Coursework (20%)

Unit Titles: Component 1 – Poetry. Component 2 – Drama. Component 3 – Unseen Texts. Component 4 – Prose Study (non exam assessment).

Key skills required: Analytical thinking, critical thinking, essay writing skills, a passion for reading. 

Entry Requirements: Grade 5 in English Literature at GCSE.
